A Circular Weaving Workshop w/ Mira Robin

A CIRCULAR WEAVING WORKSHOP: WORKING WITH OUR INNER CRITIC AND BUILDING SELF-COMPASSION

Join us for an arts-based wellness workshop focused on self-compassion. Slow down and learn the basics of circular weaving as we integrate a gentle breathwork and movement practice.

We will learn basic weaving techniques while enjoying the colours and textures of the materials together. The act of circular weaving has a meditative quality, working from the inside out we can surrender and let the piece evolve naturally.

Just as the weaving piece we create may have snags, imperfections, and evoke frustrations along the way, we will sit with the sensations and use movement, breathwork and playfulness together to move towards healing our inner self-critic.

No previous art-making or weaving experience required, just an openness to explore and play.

This event, open to the public and Nectar Experience guests alike, will be offered at the Dome at Nectar, situated on 20 acres of lush forested land on Nexwlélexwm (Bowen Island) as the ancestral and unceded territory of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation. The workshop will be kept to a smaller, intimate group of participants to allow for connection with others and guidance through the process.

What’s included:

· Gentle movement and breathwork practice

· Instruction and guidance on basic circular weaving practice, with an emphasis on process over product

· Art materials and supplies, including a circular loom, warp string, yarn and roving

· A supportive and nurturing group space to learn and create together

What to bring:

· It’s recommended to wear layers, as this workshop will take place in the geodesic dome or outdoors, depending on weather

· A snack or light lunch to enjoy during our short break during the session

Investment:

· Sliding scale $78 – 108

Cassie will weave active, restorative, and meditative yoga practices with myths & good-night stories about the wild woman archetype, from the book: Women Who Run With The Wolves by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés.

Michaela will foster the connection with our creative inner worlds in her workshop “How to Play with Light”. Through laughter and wonder, we will tap into the purest form of joy that’s held deep in our souls. You’ll go home with your very own light installation & bright memories.

On mornings, you’ll wake up to energizing yoga practices, and wind down before bed with restorative practices and stories. In between, there’s space for you to rest, reflect, and explore the forest.

Yoga practices include: asana (postures), pranayama (breath practices/life force expansion), dharana/dhyana (meditation), guided rest and often, poetry and music.

Autumn Equinox Yin + Crystal Bowl Sound Bath

6:30 PM18:30

Autumn Equinox Yin + Crystal Bowl Sound Bath

Where: Nectar Yoga, Bowen Island

When: 6:30 – 8:30pm on September 22, 2024

Event Overview:
Celebrate the Autumnal Equinox in community at Nectar Yoga.

We are transitioning from the illuminated Summer season and waning towards the darker days of Fall. The inherent shifts that are happening all around us are becoming more visible each day. If we listen and become more attuned, we can also witness an echoing of the seasonal rhythms occurring within us.

The Equinox is an auspicious time to honour the light and the dark and allow the welcoming arms of Autumn to embrace you. This gathering led by Nectar Creatrix, Andrea, will offer you the opportunity to slow down, move in communal space, feel the vibration of sound, and relax.

Andrea will lead you through a 90-minute Yin class curated to sync with the energies of the Equinox.

Following the intentionally slow movement practice, will be a crystal bowl sound bath and a guided silent relaxation period to close.

Items to bring:

• Journal

• Pen

• One Community Altar Item

What’s Included:

  • An introduction and group introduction

  • A seasonally curated yoga practice

  • A 30-minute crystal bowl sound bath

  • Closing gratitude circle

About Sound Baths

A typical bath involves a person immersing themselves in the medium of water, a sound bath attempts to envelop a person in the medium of sound. In most cases, the bath involves singing bowls, which are instruments made out of metal or crystal that create a resonant tone (much like a bell) when a practitioner strikes them.

Sound baths convey an immersive sound that fills the entire room and the bodies within the space, transmitting sound waves throughout the entire body, including memories and sensations stored in the cells. The resonance activates both theta, alpha, and gamma brain waves, states that are associated with relaxation, the letting go of mental and physical stress, and emotions relating to wellbeing and compassion.

Collective Feminine Healing and Connection w/ Harmony Shire + Karelle Falardeau

Collective Feminine Healing and Connection

In the great spiritual tradition, we have used archetypal work to explore different facets of our being. This series of retreats is dedicated to the power of the elements and their dominant energies that reside within us. It is in the dance of the body's two great energies that we connect with our powerful selves. The masculine energy (consciousness) explored through fire and air elements, and the feminine energy (feeling) explored through water and earth elements.

Sitting in a circle and sharing our experiences with other women is a really powerful place to lend and invite transformative work to begin our journey and understand at a deeper level the profound work that is to be human. Our journey will be supported by cacao medicine, somatic experience, dance, ritual theater, journaling, yin yoga, and meditation.

SECOND SESSION | APRIL 7TH 2024

FIRE AND AIR | MASCULINE

The masculine energy in you is the container that holds the feminine river. It is the unconditional support and acknowledgment of your feminine nature. This energy holds space for you to express all parts of your being.

It is shown as gold, giving you the opportunity to think clearly, to build ongoing effort, having good external strength. It is the powerful energy of structure and discipline, and it is the profound source of resilience within. Our access to pure consciousness.

We hope you can come join us for this beautiful transformative journey here on the sacred lands of Nex̱wlélex̱wm (Bowen Island) at Nectar Yoga.

Event Overview

The Spring Equinox is a sacred day of equal light and dark, it is hinge point that ushers us into the season of light. An energetic doorway can be opened on this day, offering curiosity, clarity, and new beginnings.

Led by Nectar Creatrix, Andrea, we’ll gather together in Nectar’s sacred geodesic dome to share our voices and intentions. Themes of seeding creativity, opening to more flow in our daily lives, renewal, and release will be discussed.

After our opening circle, Andrea will guide the group through a 60-minute Slow Flow, all-levels yoga class. As a close to this offering, will be followed by a crystal bowl sound bath.

We look forward to sharing this beautiful evening with our community.

About Sound Baths

Just as a typical bath involves a person immersing themselves in the medium of water, a sound bath attempts to envelop a person in the medium of sound.

FIRST SESSION | MARCH 3RD 2024

EARTH & WATER | FEMININE

The feminine energy in you is wild, free, and untamed. It ignores the unwritten rules and boundaries that society has constructed for it while rising above them and carving its own path for the soul.

The elements of water and earth, which exist in all living things on earth, reveal their true nature in the feminine part of our being. This power within leads us to explore nurturing, maternal and affectionate energies, beauty, sensuality and attraction, creativity and inspiration in their purest forms, abundance, the certainty that the earth will always provide enough, intuition, and total openness to receiving.

We hope you can come join us for this beautiful transformative journey here on the sacred lands of Nex̱wlélex̱wm (Bowen Island) at Nectar Yoga.

Moons + Blooms Series | The New Moon + Pine: Building Resilience

Moons + Blooms Series at Nectar Retreat

Join us for the Moons + Blooms Series, a monthly sanctuary where we align with lunar rhythms and explore Nectar’s featured monthly plant/fungi themes within a supportive community. Escape the rush of daily life and immerse yourself in a sacred practice that merges lunar phases with the unique essence of our chosen plant companion. Each session begins with a grounding herbal libation that nurtures the physical and energetic body. We’ll then practice gentle movements to invite stillness and rejuvenation. As the experience draws to a close, let the medicine of sound healing provide deeper tranquility, alignment, and a renewal of your spirit.

The New Moon + Pine: Building Resilience

Friday, February 9, 2024 from 6:45PM – 9PM

The Dome at Nectar on Bowen, limited parking available

The New Moon, corresponding to rest, beginnings, and intention setting, combined with the wisdom of the Pine tree, can support goals related to creating magic, building resilience, and living in alignment with the cosmos. Guided by Melanie Keller O’Leary, Registered Therapeutic Counsellor and Sacred Ceremony Facilitator, learn to flow with the energies at hand, and dive deep into your personal work that can be activated through the gentle guided somatic movements as well as vibrationally through sound healing.

What’s included:

  • A non-etheogenic herbal libation containing the majestic Pine, and consumed in ceremony. This will be prepared based on Melanie’s training in traditional herbal medicine, and will carry the intended energies of the themed class.

  • Guidance and instruction around ritual, shamanic herbal practices, and techniques aimed to help you connect with the New Moon and Pine.

  • A group altar that can hold space for individual offerings that can range from personal intentions written on paper or small tokens symbolizing their desire for calling in a specific energy or outcome.

  • Sound healing with crystal and brass bowls as a relaxing, gentle yet powerful way to move and attune energy.

  • Guidance on integrating these practices into daily life for continued energetic maintenance and well-being.

  • A safe and nurturing physical and spiritual environment; items such as mats to engage in gentle movement, cushions and blankets to stay warm and comfortable, along with ambient lighting to hold space for calm and soul development.

What to bring:

  • It’s recommended to bring warm sweaters and socks for practice in the geodesic dome. Although heated, it is still a tent and can be cool.

  • Journal and pen

  • A small token to add to the collective altar, such as flowers, a loving intention written on stationery, or a small, symbolic item that you desire to energetically “charge” at the altar that can be taken home at the end of the program.

Investment:

  • Sliding scale of $68-108
In keeping with Nectar’s efforts to remain as accessible as realistically possible, the gathering is available at a sliding scale to reflect your systemic and economic privilege and capacity, within the range of $68-108. The actual retail value of this retreat is $89. Contributions meeting or surpassing this retail value significantly aid us in expanding accessibility to our facilities for all.

  • Nectar offers a full scholarship for one spot at each gathering. Please email info@nectaryoga.ca to inquire about availability. Proof of financial hardship will not be required.

About Your Facilitator:
