A Year with Astrology AND THE BODY
Full Moon: February 1, 2026 | New Moon + Solar Eclipse: February 17, 2026
In February the Sun moves from the astrological sign of Aquarius into Pisces, shifting structure and accountability to feeling and integration. The body begins to register change less through effort and intellect, and more through intuition and sensation. Aquarius brings awareness to circulation and connection, while Pisces invites permeability and processing. Together, they offer a season of insight arising through the body, and it’s through the body that we are guided forward.
Set beneath towering conifers on Bowen Island, Nectar Yoga Retreat sits within a landscape that understands this transition well. Rain settles into moss and soil. Mist lingers between trees. Water teaches that transformation naturally unfolds through steady presence and time.
Recognized by New York Times and Condé Nast Traveler as one of North America’s top yoga retreats, Nectar of Bowen Island approaches wellness practices as a way of listening. We begin with the body and its rhythms, allowing understanding to emerge through experience rather than analysis alone. February draws attention to more subtle forms of awareness, carried through the feet, the breath, and the body’s internal flow.
February: From Air to Water
Moving from Aquarius into Pisces marks a shift in how information is received and processed in the body. Air signs govern circulation, signaling, and connectivity, as well as how messages travel quickly through the nervous system, joints, and breath. Water signs, by contrast, relate to absorption, filtration (sorting), and integration. As this transition unfolds, attention moves from how energy circulates to how it settles. Sensation replaces effort as the primary guide. The body begins to process experience through the feet, the lymphatic system, and the slower internal rhythms that support restoration. Insight arises as something felt and integrated over time; patience and trust is needed when working under Pisces.
February’s ASTROLOGICAL SIGNS AND BODY PARTS
Aquarius (Air): Ankles, lower legs, circulation, nervous system
Pisces (Water): Feet, lymphatic system, crown
These practices support circulation, drainage, and nervous system calm while honouring the transition from air to water. Move slowly. Let sensation guide you.
Practices for February: Aquarius & Pisces Seasons
Working with these areas brings attention to support and sensitivity in the lower body, along with the body’s capacity to process and settle. The ankles act as adaptable hinges between leg and foot, shaping how we walk and respond to uneven terrain. The feet provide contact and feedback through pressure, temperature, and texture, offering a constant stream of sensory data that influences posture and nervous system tone.
Pisces is often linked with the lymphatic system in modern astrological body maps, though this is a symbolic and spiritual association rather than a medical one. In practical terms, this month’s focus supports circulation and layers of awareness through gentle inversion, steady breath, and slow, repetitive movement, which are methods many people find helpful for reducing the feeling of heaviness and encouraging a sense of lightness in the legs, feet, and even emotions.
In February, practice benefits from simplicity and consistency. Choose a few supportive shapes, give them time, and notice what shifts when you slow down. This season’s sense of ‘success’ is defined by building sensitivity to what the body is already communicating.
Supported Legs-Up-the-Wall (Viparita Karani)
Purpose: Encourages lymphatic drainage, calms the nervous system, relieves tired legs and feet.
How-to:
Sit with one hip close to a wall and gently roll onto your back, extending your legs upward.
Place a bolster or folded blanket under the pelvis for gentle elevation.
Let the arms rest open, palms facing up.
Stay for 5–10 minutes, breathing naturally.
Focus: Pisces teaches restoration through stillness. Allow gravity to do the work.
Figure Four / Reclined Pigeon
Purpose: Opens outer ankles, calves, and hips; supports circulation through the lower body.
How-to:
Lie on your back and cross your right ankle over your left thigh.
Option to draw the left leg in toward the chest.
Hold for 1–2 minutes, then switch sides.
Focus: Aquarius reminds us that freedom begins in the joints that allow movement and change.
Ankle Circles & Foot Articulation
Purpose: Improves mobility, awareness, and circulation through the feet and ankles.
How-to:
Sit comfortably and extend one leg forward.
Slowly flex and point the foot, then make small circles in both directions.
Gently spread and curl the toes.
Repeat on the other side.
Focus: Small, attentive movements build trust in the body’s subtle intelligence.
Seated Forward Fold with Strap
Purpose: Lengthens the back body, gently stretches calves and feet, encourages inward attention.
How-to:
Sit with legs extended and loop a strap around the soles of the feet.
Hinge forward from the hips, keeping the spine long.
Rest where sensation is present but not strained.
Breathe for 1–2 minutes.
Focus: Pisces season favours surrender over striving. Let the fold be receptive.
Alternate Nostril Breathing (Nadi Shodhana)
Purpose: Balances the nervous system, steadies breath, and harmonizes air and water elements.
How-to:
Sit upright. Close the right nostril and inhale through the left.
Switch, closing the left nostril and exhaling through the right.
Inhale through the right, then exhale through the left.
Continue for 3–5 minutes.
Focus: Breath becomes a bridge between inspiration and intuition.
Full Moon & New Moon Reflection
Astrological Tarot Correspondences
Aquarius is traditionally associated with The Star, a card of clarity, renewal, and quiet orientation, while Pisces corresponds with The Moon, which speaks to intuition, uncertainty, and the wisdom of moving by feel rather than certainty. Together, they invite reflection on what restores trust and what asks to be felt without immediate resolution.
The Star (Aquarius): What helps me feel restored, oriented, or quietly hopeful right now?
The Moon (Pisces): What am I sensing beneath the surface, even if I don’t yet understand it?
Journalling
February includes both a Full Moon and a New Moon with a Solar Eclipse, marking a month where energy moves both emotionally and tangibly. With your favourite journal, reflect and write freely. Let the body lead the inquiry.
Full Moon (February 1)
Reflect: What sensations or signals have I been overlooking? Where does my body ask for release?New Moon + Solar Eclipse (February 17)
Reflect: What wants to begin quietly, without explanation or certainty? What if I listen before I decide?
Seasonal Nourishment
As February moves from Aquarius into Pisces, nourishment comes from deeper Winter comfort. This apple chai scone is designed for that by rounding without being heavy, gently spiced, and well suited to slower mornings. The masala chai at its centre brings together air and water qualities: aromatic and uplifting, yet soft and enveloping once steeped. Using Nectar Tea Company’s Solar Reflections Masala Chai allows the spices time to bloom and integrate, echoing the month’s themes of processing and settling.
Nectar’s Apple Chai Scones
(makes 18 portions)
Ingredients
1 cup flax meal
1 cup warm water
1½ cups plant-based milk
½ cup neutral oil (sunflower or canola)
½ cup coconut oil
1 cup sugar
6 cups flour
2 tbsp baking powder
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1–2 cups chopped apple
Method
Preheat oven to 300° F
Stir together 1 cup flax meal and 1 cup warm water; set aside briefly to thicken.
In a large bowl, combine the flax mixture with 1½ cups plant-based milk, ½ cup neutral oil, and ½ cup melted coconut oil.
In a small bowl, soak 3 tbsp Nectar masala chai with just enough boiling water to cover; add the tea and spices to the bowl and mix well.
Stir in 1 cup sugar until evenly incorporated.
Add 6 cups flour, 2 tbsp baking powder, 1 tbsp vanilla extract, and 1–2 cups chopped apple.
Fold gently until just combined; the dough should be soft and slightly shaggy.
Scoop dough using an ice cream scoop and place onto a lined baking sheet, leaving about 1.5-2 inches of space between each scone.
Bake for 50-60 minutes, until top gets golden brown.
Integrating the Elemental Shift
As you practice this month, imagine the body as a vessel that both carries and releases. Let what is unnecessary drain away. Let intuition arrive in its own time. This seasonal movement from concept to embodiment is at the heart of our upcoming offerings.
For those wishing to explore Pisces more deeply through creative and sensory practice, Alchemy of Creativity Day Retreat: Pisces + The Divine Echo on March 1 (where Pisces energy is in full bloom), led by Madelyn Mulvaney of Luminous Studios alongside Andrea Clark, co-founder of Nectar and Mist, offers a dedicated day of guided exploration. The retreat weaves together movement, creative process, and reflection, providing space for intuition, imagination, and integration to unfold without urgency.
This same ethos carries into our Nectar at Home Wellness Membership, where weekly practices in yoga, pilates, breathwork, meditation, and other contemplative classes support an ongoing relationship with embodiment. Designed to complement time spent on retreat—or to stand on its own—Nectar at Home offers a steady, accessible way to stay connected to the rhythms explored here, allowing practice to continue long after the season turns.
Looking Ahead
In March, we move toward the Equinox, a moment of balance and re-orientation. We’ll explore practices that support the head and brain, filmed for Nectar At Home, and reflect on the threshold of the Spring Equinox 2026.
